Of the few type XXI boats that actually passed through the training U-flotilla's only U2511 and U3008 are listed as going on a war patrol. Of the ones that reached a Norwegian port, U2502, U2513, U3017, U3014 and U3515 at Horten, U2529 at Kristiansand, U3035 at Stavanger, U3514 at Bergen arrived within the last few days of the war and only under went diving tests and snorkel trials, although U2529 was operationally ready she did not receive sailing orders.

One other boat, U2506 however last few days appear different. Having firstly in February was involved in the naval evacuation of refugee's fleeing the Russian advances along the Baltic coast she later sailed from Kiel, arriving at Horten on April 20th she went on to firstly Bergen before arriving at Kristiansand on 26th.having undergone the tests and trials mentioned in Oslofjord, did on the 27th take on stores and equipment [? what].

She then sailed from Kristiansand on the 28th, only to develop snorkel problems on the 29th. These could not be fixed and she aborted back to Bergen, arriving after five days on May 1st. Should this be classed like U864's experience as a patrol. john
