Possible Discrepancy Gulf of Mexico

Uboat.net is one of the best sources for U-boat information available.

However, I'd like to call to their attention there may be discrepancies in the US Gulf of Mexico with regard to ships sunk. One source, Torpedoes in the Gulf, Galveston and the U-Boats, 1942-1943, Melanie Wiggens show in the appendix: 56 sunk, 14 damaged by 24 U-Boats in the Gulf of Mexico. The author cites this information is taken from Jurgen Rohwer, Axis Submarine Successes:1939-1945.

Uboat.net apparently does not show all of these on its maps.

Please verify or otherwise explain.
