Hi I'm doing research on the U-870, commanded by KvtKpt Ernst Hechler. I have found two photos of the U-870, but was advised the photo owner, Daniel Akerberg, has passed away, and had no written info about the photos. Here they are:

1.

2.

The photos are at [www.u-historia.com]

Photo 1 is a group shot of crew members immediately forward of the conning tower. is it possible to discover the names of the crew members in Photo 1? Additionally, about both photos, I'd like to know:

a. When was the photo taken?
b. Who took it?
c. Where was it taken?
d. What was the boat doing at the time?
e. Can you confirm this is a photo of U-870?
f. From whom could I obtain permission to publish the photo if it's copyrighted?

I'm also looking for photos of U-870 following a bombing mission by the USAAF on 30 March 1945 to the DeschiMag shipyard in Bremen. Apparently the boat was destroyed during that mission, but with no deaths among the crew members.

I appreciate your help deeply, thank you.
