Cheaper way to visit the sites in Germany

<HTML>My first visit to Germany was from Sept 16th to Oct 16th 2000. I went by myself, and met a friend at the Frankfurt Airport. Cost for flight round trip was $770.00. Travel by car or train, do not go on a tour. The last one I priced was around $2,000 for two weeks. I spent a total of with flight, and with about $500 in gifts etc, about $3,000-to-$3,200 which included helping pay for gasoline in my friends car, and buying a few meals for her, and gifts for about 15 people. I was with her for 2 weeks, and by myself for 2 weeks. I saw many sites in Germany includind several castles, 2 boat trips, 4 train trips, a weekend in Switzerland etc etc etc. All this and hotels and gasthouses for 1 month. You get more for your money by not being on a touren.</HTML>
