U-boat bunkers

Well here i am with another question! I was talking with a friend of mine about u-boats (what else really!) and he asked me if i knew how were the U-boats maintaned after their return from a patrol, did they move them to dry docks? Well I told him that probably not, they just were closing the bunker with some sort of a watertight door, pump the water out and after the work was done, refill the bunker. Any idea of what those doors looked like or how they operated?
