<HTML>To add to the replies;
During the war numerous acusations were made, especially by the British, of shooting of survivors by U-boat crewman. Many of these stories circulated after the war...
Extensive research after the war by the victorious allies could find only one case, in thousands of sinkings, of the shooting of survivors. This, the Palleaus incident (sp?), is discussed on this site. Henke never did such a thing. Quite the opposite. Tim Mulligans \'other\' U-boat book, \"Neither Sharks nor Wolves...\", also details numerous cases of U-boats helping sinking victims, and Doenitz\'s resistance to any \'shoot survivors\' orders from Hitler.
