<HTML>Don -
I believe the location is an easterly extension from the western shore of the mouth of the Gulf of Danzig. It had been a fortified naval base for several years; and may have been isolated and bypassed by the Soviet army advancing easterly along the Baltic coast in 1945. Shipyards in nearby Danzig built U-boats, and the area had been heavily involved in U-boat trials and crew training. =AL=</HTML>
