<HTML>I forgot to say that for all of the above devices to work the book must submerge first . There is too much surface noise etc for them to be effective. I do not know of or think the U-boats had any sound location devices installed on their boats that would be of any use on the surface .The sound of the diesels would make them useless on the surface and submerged while snorting also . For best reception the boat should be at depth while running on their e-motors .</HTML>
