<HTML>From what I understand, the Japanese actually treated the Germans (and Italians) pretty well. The U-862 book explains how a number of the crew were actually kept with the boat to conduct repairs and train the Japanese. Those who didn\'t stay with the boats were placed in internment camps which were veritalbe Holiday Inn hotels compared to their POW camps.
