I agree that it\'s quite possible that they knew each other, but it is probably very hard to prove. The key fact is likely to be that they both attended the Marine School and graduated a year apart. Crew 1934 started out with 291 members, crew 1935 with 462 individuals. Given the small size of these classes and the prewar Kriegsmarine in general, the officers tended to know each other.
