<HTML>Dear Rainer.
Yes I had read that the Allies/Axis vets were meeting there. I actually met a German Para who who was on holiday there last year. He was involved in the action centered around the old Olive oil factory on one of the landing beaches. I went to look for the site but it had been flattened. The old guy came back most every year and had a time share on the island which I found quite amusing . There was on or two interesting relics including pak 70 anti tank guns, some Italian hardware, and a German Parachute draped from the ceiling in a fruit and veg shop..! I walked around the Malme airfield, and on the dried up river bed. The old bridge is riddled with shrapnel, and you get a very good idea of the positions. One guy who I didnt get to meet, had a collection of relics, including Aircraft parts. There are lots of German pistols and Rifles still in the hands of the Creatians who still fire them off at weddings etc. In fact there is usually an accident involving these weapons most years. I think the goverment tried an anmesty a few years ago. With little results.. It appears that most older families have at least one Luger or Mauser .</HTML>
