<HTML>The BLACK POINT was a 396 foot long coal collier built in 1918. At the time of her sinking she was carrying 7,000 tons of coal and armed with one 5 inch gun at her stern . She was sunk by the U-853 and her torpedo blew off 40 to 50 feet of her stern and killing 12 men .</HTML>
