<HTML>I just found this text on [www.british-forces.com]
No U-boat was destroyed by M.A.C. ship\'s aircraft, but on 8 July 1944, the escort of Convoy ON (M) 243 obtained a bearing on a submarine which was later attacked and sunk by aircraft from the two M.A.C. ships in the convoy, ss Empire Maccoll and ss Empire Maccallum. After the one survivor was picked up the submarine was found to be the French submarine Perle, proceeding to the U.S.A. unescorted.
Greetings
Brian
