This docu describes the saving of civilians from East Prussia at the end of WWII by U 3505,including 50 children despite orders from the brass not take any of these people on board.
Another boat to be mentioned on such missions was U 999.
It was said that altogther ca. 2.500 people were saved at this period of time by uboats from the advancing Russian Army. Taking this number of people saved other uboats must have participated in such endevours.
Since ARTE is European TV chanel I am pretty sure an English version of this docu could be obtained, a French version is available.
