<HTML>The numbers and letters didn\'t change, but references to them were often encoded within the message decoded by the Enigma machine aboard each U-boat. A code book page was specified each day for commanders\' reference which translated these \"marinequadrat\" positions. For example, \"4.7.42 p. 352\" might say that Y = C, B = A, 7 = 3, 0 = 2, etc. So on July 4, 1942, YB 70 would mean
position CA 32. (There were no 0\'s on the real grid charts.)</HTML>
