Hello All -
Ken - I really appreciate your help in this. The id tags were different for members of the KM throughout the war as we just learned in our group - The U-Boat Society. I first learned about this back in 'o7...but learned more in depth in the group. From what I have figured out - that I will only need the year of joining - which of course would be 1933.
I am also trying to find Dougie Martindale - some years ago, I think 5 or 6, he was kind enough to make scans of all these photos that I found helpful. Unfortunately I no longer have the CD and the copy that I made for my one friend is lost (at the moment).
I belong to the U-Boat Society for living historians/reenactors and would really appreciate it if someone can put me in touch with him to get a new CD made as it would really help out with regards to 'photo evidence' (which is the only thing that can 'win' an argument in this hobby - not that I argue a lot but...).
If not - I am specifically looking for crew photos - of course U 47 (as this is all about what crews wore, etc.) and many of the photos that were on that CD aren't on the internet.
If someone is willing to send me scans/copies to my email - I would really appreciate that.
Thanks in Advance.
