Some U-boats, like some British warships were adopted by towns and would incorporate the town crest into their badge. Other than that German U-boats have only been designated by a number from the first SMU 1 under
Kptlt v. Boehm-Bezing through to the latest U-boat in the present Deutsche Marine the U 30 under..... well cannot reveal the name of the commander here.
