Speaking of vietnam, here are some thoughts.
The U-boat war is now 55 - 60 years ago. The US Civil War (1861-65) was 75 years past when WWII began - about the same.
The Vietnam War, now about 30 years past, is more distant in history nowadays, then WWII was during the vietnam era (20 years or so btwn WWII and vietnam).
