Rosenbaum & U-73

Hi All,

I'm just reading 'At All Costs' by Sam Moses, it follows the story of two merchant ships involved in Operation Pedestal. On the chapter about the sinking of HMS Eagle the author writes that Rosenbaum had a couple of brandies to'calm himself down'. How credible does does seem? A few tots before attacking an aircraft carrier?

Obviously not something that would appear in the ktb but a HMS Eagle vet called George Amyes received a book from the widow of Rosenbaum after the war that a journalist made up about the u-boat commanders career. Perhaps this anecdote was in this book.

Anyone ever heard of this before?

Regards,

Mark
