<HTML>In the events on this day page on this site i found out that U 407 torpedoed the British light cruiser HMS Newfoundland in the Mediterranean

i found this on [www.naval-history.net]

Cruiser \"Newfoundland\" is damaged off Syracuse by a torpedo from \"U-407\", and as Italian \"ASCIANGHI\" attacks a cruiser force off the south coast of Sicily she is sunk by destroyers \"Eclipse\" and \"Laforey\".

but on [www.world-war.co.uk] i found this

Newfoundland served initially in the Home Fleet and then went to the Mediterranean, taking part in the attack on Pantelleria in June and the Sicily landings, as part of Support Force East, in July 1943. However, on 23 July she was torpedoed by the Italian submarine Ascianghi

I already sent the administrator of that site an e-mail to take a look at this forum and the reactions on this topic, so let\'s not disapoint him.

U 407 or Ascianghi, wich one is it ?

Greetings
