Can You ID This U-Boat Type/Number Please?

Good evening all,
A dear friend and neighbour has asked me to scan some of his late relative's wartome photos from other family members. One of which you will see is of a U-Boat in harbour. The family believe the vessel was sunk losing all hands in the Bay of Biscay by an ASW Trawler (HMS Lord Lloyd (FY 157)) but I am having trouble tracing any account of that action.
We would be eternally grateful for any information you may collectively have. My intention is to build a small scale model of the boat to gift to the family if we can ID it.
