This boat recorded as sunk 09.01.44 at Pola (Pula) by American aircraft. Only two USAAF attacks I have found on the 9th were by B-24's, suported by P-38 fighters from the 15th USAAF 449th and 450th BG's, but these were on Zada (Zadar), which I believe is some 70 - 80 miles to the SE of Pola and these attacks were cancelled due to cloud cover. Is the actual details of the sinking of U81 known? john
