Missing awards ??

As part of my research I have come across a slight anomaly which I was hoping someone might be able to help me with. The U-Boots-Kriegsabzeichen 1939 (U-boat badge) was awarded usually after two War Patrols. It seems that most, if not all U-boat Captains got them early in the war. All it seems except Horst Hamm who torpedoed the Strathallan on 21 December 1942 on his 7th War Patrol. Even after his 8th and having accounted for 40,500 tonnes of allied shipping during those 8 patrols (quite an enviable record), it seems that he received no medals - not even the U-boat badge (according to uboat.net anyway. Can someone explain this please ? If possible, could someone provide me with the awards and date of receipt (if any) that this officer received during his career ? Many thanks Steve
