Hello Rainer,

Thanks for the extra information and details. Wasn't sure if it had been a "date" error in the ORB or other. I guess their are many posibilities as to the fate of U-240...

And here's another... U-965's report of an encounter with an enemy sub at 2145 on the 17th in area AF37? Unclear on the translation as to whether it meant "dodged torpedoes" or "got out of range of torpedoes", but any idea as to the identity of the sub, if in fact any were operating in the area?
