Sorry to hear that my dad Basil Poole was the radio operator on the Penrose and was fortunate to survive the attack.dad lived to the ripe old age of 96 but never spoke much about the incident. I managed to find a key from one of his crew mates to his mum returning the princely sun of £1 which dad had given him when they were rescued
