This boat is recorded as being on 10 patrols, however different sources list her sailings differently, the difference concerns the recording of patrols 7 and 8. Patrol 7 she sailed on June 12th but was attacked by aircraft and damaged with one crew man killed, returning on the 16th. She sailed again on August 1st at 19:50 [8th patrol], and was again damaged by air attack returning on the 3rd by 15:45. Eleven days passed before she tried again on the 14th, [9th patrol], sailing at 19:20 only to suffer the same fate, returning the next day at 20:43. Eventually her luck changed and having sailed on September 9th [10th patrol], was successful returning after 105 days, before being lost on her next [11th patrol]. Is this an accurate account?, as I am aware the length of days spent out on patrols vary considerably. john
