Hi!
1.) No. U 380 entered the port of Messina because of engine damage.
By the air attack the boat received more damage and was not battle ready any more. That's the reason for going to La Spezia.
2.) The name of the harbor is Porto Nuovo. It is a part of Livorno.
There U 380 loaded 25 ts of ammunition. First it was ordered to load petrol but that was cancelled in favor of ammo.
On 09.05.1943 the ammo was dropped overboard for being able to take on board as many german soldiers as possible.
But except the four soldiers of 3.) U 380 took no other people on board and returned to La Spezia on 16.05.1943.
