When she sailed on what turned out to be her last voyage, on a supply mission [schnorkels] to La Pallice she was lost with all 58 men on board. However as well as her present commander Kplt V. Simmermacher many regular crew were on leave when she was ordered to go. LtzS (dR) was appointed her new commander, where he gathered a 'scratch' crew for the voyage.
