U 552 / Kurowski....

<HTML>In the book An alle Wölfe, Angriff! is something strange mentioned. In the chapter on Erich Topp is mentioned that U 552 attacked convoy HG 84 in June 1942, protected by the 36th Escort group commanded by the famous Johnnie Walker. Kurowski writes that Walker learned AFTER the war from Dönitz that from the 8 boats that attacked the convoy, only the U 552 was responsible for the 5 sinking’s. Also, no U-Boats were sunk as the British thought.

Walker then paid respect to Topp, and would like to shake his hands, although Walker’ s fame was a bit dent in that specific engagement….

The strange thing in this case is that Johnnie Walker past away in July 1944, so a meeting with Dönitz is unlikely. And a high tea in Walkers garden, ganz gemütlich with Dönitz during the war is even more unlikely.....

Is Kurowski mixing or making things up here?

Kind regards,

Maurice
