<HTML>Horst Einbrodt, crewmember on the U-351 and later Kapitaenleutnant in the Bundesmarine submarine service, passed away last month. I met him when he came to Hans Goebeler\'s (U-505) funeral service in 1999. As vice-president of the German U-boat Veterans Society, he placed a fine memorial section about Hans in the society\'s news magazine.
Horst was always very very tight-lipped about his wartime experiences, but he did finally consent to an interview with Hans\' widow Erika a few months before his demise. He had some extremely interesting anecdotes to tell, especially regarding the scuttling of his boat at the end of the war and his subsequent escape from Russian captivity. One lesson I learned from his story... NEVER surrender to the Russians!!!</HTML>
