...........................................
There are usually few signs of life around the beach
at Bahia de Camarones, on a desolate coast of Patagonia
in Southern Argentina.
But in the summer of 1945, the residents began to spot
lights flashing out at sea in the middle of the night.
Some later reported seeing men landing on the beaches
in small boats, dragging heavy crates up the shore.
Villagers later found cast-iron barrels bearing
German inscriptions washed up along the bay.
The people of Camarones had stumbled upon part of
the biggest heist in history.
During the Second World War the Nazis stole gold worth
more than $5&1/2 billion at todays prices.
Argentinian navy veterans report seeing U-boats
in groups of six & seven.
The u-boat method of exporting Nazi generals,
dipolmats and businessmen with their stolen gold to
Argentina could not last forever and Peron
soon found easier ways of smuggling his secret
allies across.
This time he used one of his most powerful weapons
as a smokescreen- his beautiful wife Evita.
In 1947 Eva Peron began a tour of Europe that
would become known as the Rainbow Tour.
According to the film-makers, her trip
had a darker mission.
In the Ritz Hotel, Madrid, Evita was said to have
met SS colonel Otto Skorzeny...................
Regards, Vin.
