In one scene the ratings are dancing to what sounds like American swing and in another scene the officers and men are listening to jazz. Did U-boat crews actually have access to jazz and other American music? I know that during Operation Drumbeat a few of the Uboats were so close to American shores that they could intercept music on their radio and even hear it from outside the boat since sound carries excellently across water.
