My father Adalbet Walczak was a crew memeber of the U 1006 which was depth charged off the Shetland Islands. He was picked up by a Canadian ship and became a POW in England, where he met and married my mother. He was responsible for designing the emblem of the U1006 - "the pigs behind with the curly tail". He attended the funeral of Admiral Karl Donitz. My father and mother attended
