Researching a passenger on the Highland Brigade enroute from Brazil to England, some days out of Bermuda the ship was stopped as lookouts noticed a raft floating in the water. Recently reading about the voyage of the Highland Brigade enroute from America to England, an incident is revealed whereby the ship stopped as it came across a raft in the water with an open attache case in it and nothing else. U-229 was lost of Greenland having been sunk by HMS Keppel on the 22nd of September, 1943. U-229 has sunk the M.V. Vaalaren on the 5th of April, 1943 with loss of all life.
