On Revell's 1:72 Type IXC are a pair of irregularly shaped tubed that rise from the forward area of the wintergarten deck just outboard of the ladders and rise to the bridge level. The upper ends stop at the aft end of the bridge deck. What are they? At first I thought they were the stuffing tubes for the aft antenna feed wires, but then realized those are at the aft end of the wintergart

I'm pleased with my progress on Revell's 1/72 Type IX, and have begun detailing the false pressure hull I've added. The limber holes are open, the tank tops are in place, and I have the silhouettes of the torpedo loading hatches, conning tower, and remnant deck gun foundation in place. Is the forward-facing projection at the base of the conning tower fairing the housing for the boat's gyroscope? What do the markings (square with X and circle with X) represent?
