Thanks, what is confusing is there is what appears to be an intake tube on the the top middle of the tube. This piece go from the main tube into the conning tower. The question is if it were simple a storage tube why this additional piece. I wish I could attach a pic to more clearly explain what I’m talking about, but I don’t see how to upload a pic on this site.

Can anyone ID the long tube located on the starboard side of the conning tower of the U505. Some say it’s a ready tube, others say it has something to do with fueling? Do not see it on any other Uboat pictures.
