Thanks for the answers. I remember reading somewhere that there was at least 2 or 3 ways to steer the boat. I remember seeing an old pic of an WWI era Uboat with a wheel on the bridge, whereas you see no such thing in WWII era boats. But...I read somewhere that the stationary compass on the bridge had a wheel on the same column as the stationary compass and could be turned for steering. The wheel

Just how exactly was a U-Boat controlled concerning the helm? Who steered the boat and where? I remember reading that it was steered from somewhere in the aft. Just curious....
