Thanks Simon This is a bit puzzling, since at the time of her sinking SV Mary Fanny was rigged as a ketch which is confirmed in the Mercantile Navy Lists Registration details and also confirmed by a Reuben Chappell watercolour painting that I have of the vessel. Records confirm that she was indeed rigged as a topsail schooner from her build in 1862 until her conversion to ketch rig in 1916. I

I am researching the history of the British sailing vessel Mary Fanny that was sunk by shellfire in the Irish Sea by UB-64 on September 15 1918.
