Does anyone have a pic of the bow of the Type VII at sea to see if the capstan is a permanent mount or is removed when the boat is away from dock? My buddy's model is an early war version so it has the t shaped radar antenna near the bow, capstan would be near that. Best point of reference I can think of. Thanks!

Hello, I was surprised to see someone wanted them as badly as myself. Because if was a color image of the Gustloff, I just had to have it for the collection. Do you have other color images of the Gustloff or Ley? The Aviso Grille was a nice bonus, but I cannot ID any other ships. Take care! Eddie Wilhelm Gustloff Museum

Greetings to All!, I just posted 6 glass color slides from Hamburg and Kiel from 1939 on my site. They feature color images of the Wilhelm Gustloff, 'Hitler's Yacht' The Aviso Grille, and a few other passenger / cargo & Kriegsmarine ships. If anyone would like to have a look or can identify any of the other ships in the photos, they are posted at: Wilhelm Gustloff Muse

I recently purchased a photo album with the U-841. It was well put together by one of the survivors and features the names and photos of several crew members onboard during her time afloat. I tried to get as much information as I could and translate as best I could with the album. I had hoped to post individual photos, but my server is acting up and I only did them by page. If anyone is intereste

I've been going through my Gustloff photos, and I am not sure where else to ask for help. I have a photo of the Gustloff, 2 other liners, and a warship in camoflague anchored off a large mountainous island? Wondering if this is part of the Legion Condor voyage or not? I cannot make out the first letter - looks like an upper case M and loser case r in cursive together, adniwer? Any help would

*UPDATE* - I found the date December 1942 behind 3 of the photos - that should help narrow the search. Explains the Christmas parties in the other images and the snow of course.

After many attempts, I gave up the hunt and decided to post the entire album to my site. I am asking that the members view the photos and try to help figure out anything they can from the u-boat, to crew and officers, etc. Regards, Eddie Wilhelm Gustloff Museum www.wilhelmgustloffmuseum.com The photo album is under Accomodation Ship.

I also posted better images under the ww2f com forum under Atlantic Naval Conflict, and World War II in Color forum. Someone told me I can only add a photo here that is already online, and these are not.

I use many forums, but I do not see anything to upload an image on this site. I only joined to find out about this album. I have a picture posted on feldgrau.com: A friend saw other pictures and thinks it's an early Type IX, but from the few images I have seen, it only has a deck gun and one on the stand behind the conning tower, and it looks more like a Type VIIC.

After looking around a bit more, it seems the emblem is a Chinese imperial dragon on a shield. Any u-boats have this? I also thought it could be a house flag of sorts - just as the Gustloff had the Hamburg emblem on her bow and this emblem is front and center on the conning tower.

I have been trying to find the U-boat number and information that goes with the following logo. Sheild and a rampant dragon. (I'd attach the photo, but not sure if I can here - I can email it though.) I have searched the thousands of images on uboat aces to no avail? Any ideas?
