Thanks Rainer, Its been fun looking into it all, but seems to have been proven wrong... Any ideas for the BdU report that seems to mention an attack on U-383 at 2130?

Correction: Norman Franks states that naval vessels made for the area that U-106 was reported to have been attacked. This site states "allied forces" sent arriving the next day and sinking U-106. Those being allied aircraft, not naval vessels. The latter appear to have (correctly as Franks states) gone to the scene of a 59 Lib attack, not against U-106, but U-383... Partly to blame

Thanks John. Ive been toying with the idea that X/59 attacked U-383 after she was crippled by V/228 at 2002 with 7 DCs. Position of V/228 attack is noted as 47.24N 12.10.W and BF4453... Position of X/59 attack is 47.24N 12.12W. Last signal from U-383 is noted by various sources as either 2130 or 2137... BDU receiving an initial report of attack at 2009... According to wikipedia, U-106 had been trying to join E-Boats, when attacked by the 228 Sunderland, probably the three sent out to search for U-383 that had diverted after discovering no sign of U-383 in BF4453 in the early hours of the 2nd. The above report states that they were headed at full speed for BE6940 (46.35N, 11.55W?) Where U-106 was lost.

*CORRECTION TO DATE - 17/10/1943** Oh and also. I found an archive report on uboatarchive that states that U-271 was operating with Group Schlieffen on the 16th and 17th of October... Is this correct or was it supposed to state U-281? As it also shows U-271 as part of the U-488 supply group on the same dates... Thanks again, any help appreciated, Lorenzo.

Hello, just looking for more info on this attack please. Have an attack by Liberator B/59 on this date in "area" so perhaps an approximated position of 59'35'N, 31'40'W. No time is given. ORB notes the following: "Under direction from C/V, in area 59'35'N, 31'40'W, after sending PATRICK, was unlucky enough in two good runs to be able to o
