1. How many U boats were operating off the Coast of the US during July 1942?
Hey Everyone, I am working on a video piece about the U-576. I am struck by how effective the U-boats were. If I am reading correctly, The Operation drumbeat was only 5 boats, yet they sunk a staggering tonnage. Later waves went over..But how many went to US waters. Does anyone know (or can you use this website to figure out) how many u-boats were operating in or near US waters during
