This is the VHS release (see more).

In this feature, an American sailor disguised as a Nazi spy is rescued by a U-boat. Determined to liberate a group of Allied scientists who are being held prisoner, he gains control of the U-boat and allows it to be sunk by a British destroyer, although ensuring the U-boat crew are saved.

Filmed during wartime, this feature contains not just action, but propaganda; the hero is exaggeratedly strong, cunning and noble, while the U-boat crew are weak and submissive.
