Summary

The convoys that sailed time and again across the Atlantic and Arctic oceans to bring vital supplies back to Britain faced one of the greatest and most deadly threats of the entire war. Hidden deep beneath the waves were the German U-boats, which wreaked havoc among the Royal and Merchant navies. The war against the U-boats cost 100,000 lives.
