Summary

After their passenger ship is sunk by a U-boat, a small group of survivors manage to climb into a small lifeboat. One of them turns out to be from the very U-boat that sank the liner and was destroyed in its turn. Is he an officer, or merely a member of the crew? Does he really understand no English? Is he working in the best interests of the boat's occupants, or is he shepherding them all to ruin? This Alfred Hitchcock thriller is full of twists and glimpses into the dark corners of human nature.
