17:27 - Database project
Installed all commission dates for the 137 Seehund and 53 Hecht midget submarines commissioned into the Kriegsmarine in 1944-145.Database project
Uploaded a new dataset with many, many changes in both code and the data itself. Mostly cosmetic things and some typos which were fixed and consistency improvements as well.
17:27 - Database project
Added a few hundred non commissioned boats to the database.Database project
Created a prototype table for midget submarines and added some 800 midget boats to it.
17:27 - Database project
Located the U-boat numbers which were still missing from the 2310 profiles already in the U-boat Finder. Will add them to the database as soon as possible. A few hundred of those belong to midget submarines.Database project
Spent some time improving the U-boat Successes dataset as well as the Fates data. Better consistency was ensured.
17:27 - Database project
Cleaned up the dataset for Fates, removing lines like "27 dead, 19 survivors" from the main field since I calculate this anyway from other data. This removes any extra duplicate strings with this kind of information.Database project
Improved the U-boat Finder. Now it should be pretty tolerant to errant user input (non-numbers handling etc.)
17:27 - Database project
Created and installed a new table for Commanders. This table is a temporary until we finish the vastly improved data set later this fall.
17:27 - Database project
Installed and spent much time debugging the new and extended Fates database. Implemented it into the U-boat profile system.Database project
Implemented the non commissioned table into the U-boat Finder. This brings the number of boats located to almost 2400. Also linked it back to the database U-boat profiles instead of the normal .htm pages currently online.
17:27 - Database project
Located and installed the 17 U-boats previously missing from the temporary patrols database (used in "career" column in patrol pages). Now we have all 1153 commissioned U-boats with correct number of patrols listed there.Database project
Rewrote and improved the U-boat Finder system. Will add the non commissioned boats to the search shortly.
17:27 - Database project
Created a U-boat Finder for the system. This page will enable you to look for any U-boat number and see if the boat existed or was even planned by the Kriegsmarine.
17:27 - Database project
Finished almost 1200 U-boats that were ordered from the shipyards but never commissioned into the Kriegsmarine. Roughly 135-140 of those had been laid down before being cancelled or otherwise not finished. This is yet another major puzzle completed in the database project.
17:27 - Database project
Implemented the new Notes table to the boats profiles. Finished adding notes regarding some 147 U-boats. This makes the new database much more complete.Database project
Created a major new table to handle all the misc. Notes for each and every U-boat in our files. This is a sort of "container" for material not covered in other files.Database project
Fixed a small bug on the boats PHP template when looking up Successes against aircraft.
17:27 -Database project
Created a submit form for submitting new books to the databases. Made a small sample database for this purpose as I did not want to test on actual data at this point.Database project
Created a temporary database set for U-boat War Patrols to be used in U-boat profiles. This is a data set that is going to be used until we finish the much more impressive Patrols database which will include full details on U-boat movements.
17:27 - Database project
Created the new and vastly improved Books database. This work-in-progress now includes all books submitted to the site and not already online.
17:27 - Updated the Midget boat page, one of the Seehund boats is now on display at New Jersey Naval Museum, where they also have the WWII submarine SS Ling.
