Attacks on U-505 during this patrol

8 Jul 1943
On the 6th day out of Lorient, France, three British destroyers from a hunter-killer group pursued the submerged boat for 36 hours (assisted by a leak from an external fuel tank). The boat managed to slip away and docked at Lorient on 13 July for repair. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 383.)
