At 00.47 hours, the outbound boat was attacked with six 250lb depth charges by a Whitley (502 Sqdn RAF/F) in the Bay of Biscay. U-98 escaped by crash-diving with minor damages. (Sources: ASW 822/42, KTB U-98)
