The British submarine HMS Seahorse (96 S) missed U-36 with a spread of three torpedoes. The U-boat had just stopped to control a neutral Danish steamer and was very lucky because one of the torpedoes passed directly underneath the boat. (Sources: Dr. Jürgen Rohwer, Herbert Ritschel)
