Transferred to Norway in October 1948. Became the Norwegian submarine KNM Knerter. Used for storage by the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club from 14 Apr 1950. Stricken in 1954 and broken up.
Men lost from U-boats
Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-4706 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
