Attacks on this boat

29 Jan, 1944
The boat was seriously damaged by a very determined attack by B-24 Liberator aircraft (USN VB/100, H.H. Budd). The Liberator was damaged as well but the U-boat dived and escaped. She radioed her encounter in and was hunted down by Walker's famous Support Group 2 using Enigma on January 31. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 488)

1 recorded attacks on this boat.

Men lost from U-boats

Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-592 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
